Busan Immigration Office

Information on issuance of alien registration card

  • 1 copy of application form (can be obtained at the immigration office)

  • Certificate of enrollment

  • Passport

  • 1 photograph (3X4Cm)

  • Fees: 30,000 Won

       * Application must be submitted in person

Extension and modification of the period of stay

 

1. Document for extension of visa (period of stay)

  • Applicant who has completed the secondary or higher education(undergraduate) in countries where their mother tongue language is English

  • Applicant for Arts & Physical Education

  • Alien registration card

  • Certificate of enrollment, academic transcript

  • Receipt for payment of tuition fees

  • Documents to evidence the location of residence

  • Extension fees: 60,000 Won

2. Application for modification of D2 enrolled school

  • Standard letter of acceptance for admission

  • Receipt for payment of tuition fees

  • Letter of confirmation for voluntary drop out (transfer student) or certificate of graduation (new admission student into the Graduate School)

  • Passport

  • Alien registration card

  • Visit the immigration office to report modification of the registered records

 

3. Application for changing the immigration status from D4 to D2

  • Standard letter of acceptance for admission

  • Receipt for payment of tuition fees

  • Document for evidencing of the final academic background

  • Certificate of completion of language study, academic transcript and attendance record

  • Document for evidencing of the financial capabilities (certificate of bank account balance)

  • Passport

  • Alien registration card

  • Fees: 130,000 Won (includes the 30,000 Won fees for re-issuance of alien registration card)

4. Extension of the period of study in addition to the period of study

  • Extension for preparations for employment following completion of Undergraduate Studies   

        * If you correspond to any one of the above, please inquire at the Office of International Affairs (200-1492).

 

 

Exemption for the need of approval for re-entry

  • Subjects: Holders of D-2, D-4, F-1, F-2 or F-3

  • Need for approval for re-entry is exempted within the limit of 1 year from the date of departure

        (However, if the remaining period of approval stay is less than 1 year, the period of exemption for the need of approval for re-entry will

        be limited to the remaining period of stay)

Report for changes in the school register

 

1. Temporary leave of absence:

  • Fill up the application form for temporary leave of absence at the administration support office of each university

    → Submit the report to the Office of International Affairs→ Departure

2. Voluntary drop out:

  • Submit the application for voluntary drop out to the administration support office of each university → Submit the report to the Office of International Affairs → Departure

    * Report forms are available at the Office of International Affairs
    * Details to be entered in the report

  • Temporary leave of absence: Name, student No., alien registration number, date of birth, Passport No. qualification for the stay in Korea (visa type), date of departure and arrival, duration of stay and reasons for the temporary leave of absence

  • Voluntary drop out: Name, student No., alien registration number, date of birth, Passport No.,  qualification for the stay in Korea (visa type), date of departure, student No., alien registration number, date of birth, Passport No., qualification for the stay in Korea (visa type), date of departure of voluntary drop out

    * Since you have to apply for the student visa in the event of applying for return to the university, please consult with the Office of

        International Affairs.

Part-time work

 

1. Eligible students

  • Those with qualification as international student (D-2 visa) who has the recommendation by the academic advisor (with position higher than full-time lecturer) of the university the student belongs to, and completed more than 6 months (1 semester) of study at a higher education institute at the level higher than college.

2. Allowed area (categories) of work

  • Occupation with close relation with the area of major

  • Under the common social knowledge, occupation that a student can execute

  • Those with qualification as lecturer (citizen of the country that uses the corresponding foreign language as the native language who has acquired bachelor’s degree after having graduated from 3- year university course or higher) to teach foreign language conversation at educational institutes such as private academies (however, private tutoring is not allowed).

3. Allowed duration and location of work

  • Limited to 2 work places within the limit of 20 hours

       (25 hours for master’s degree and Ph.D. degree students) during the semester

4. Period of approval

  • Approval given for a period of 1 year once within the limit of the period of stay

5. Documents to be submitted

  • Passport

  • Alien registration card

  • Employment contract (with the employer) (to be submitted to the Office of International Affairs)

  • Integrated form for recommendation for part-time work

       (to be confirmed by the personnel in charge of the international students)

  • No applicable fee

    ※ Application for the part-time work may not be approved if it is determined that the international student with standard attendance rate of less than 70% and average academic performance of less than C(2.5) for the semester completed would have difficulties in conducting studies and work concurrently.
